INDIO, Calif. (March 17)—A California Superior Court judge today denied a Pasadena, Calif., plaintiffs´ attorney's bid to certify a class action lawsuit against Bridgestone/Firestone that sought the court-ordered recall of at least 30 million Firestone Steeltex tires. Joseph L. Lisoni claimed that Steeltex tires are inherently prone to tread separation, but "the judge essentially ruled that in every aspect of law pertaining to class actions, Lisoni failed to prove his case," a BFS spokesman said. Lisoni said he would file a petition for reconsideration of the case.
