WOLVERHAMPTON, England (March 5)—Goodyear Dunlop Tyres U.K. Ltd. will phase out production of radial farm tires at its Wolverhampton plant in the coming three months, resulting in the loss of 84 jobs.
The action will leave employment at the factory at about 500, according to a company spokesman. The facility, which four years ago employed more than 2,500 and produced all types of tires, now will make only bias-ply farm tires plus truck tire retreads and raw material mixing and calendering.
The Wolverhampton site supplies compound and raw materials to Goodyear Dunlop's other British tire manufacturing plants in Birmingham and Washington, England.
At the end of last year, Goodyear Dunlop ended car and radial light truck tire production at Wolverhampton, with the loss of around 420 jobs.
