INDIO, Calif. (March 4)—The attorney leading a class action suit against Bridgestone/Firestone for its Firestone Steeltex tires has asked a California judge to reconsider his previously rejected request for sanctions against BFS.
Judge Christopher Shelton on Jan. 22 denied without comment the motion by Joseph L. Lisoni in California Superior Court, in which the Pasadena lawyer claimed BFS was destroying Steeltex tires the court ordered preserved as evidence. Sheldon told the tire maker's attorney to prepare an order sanctioning Lisoni. That order levied a $6,600 fine against the lawyer, which was the amount BFS paid in attorneys' fees and court costs in defending against the original motion.
"He (Lisoni) wasted our time and the court's time," a BFS spokesman said.
