TRELLEBORG, Sweden (March 3)—Trelleborg A.B. has acquired Manuli Rubber Industries S.p.A.'s Dynaflex industrial hose activities in Sancheville, France, solidifying its European composite hose business.
Trelleborg, through its Trelleborg Engineered Systems business, paid an undisclosed sum for Dynaflex, which makes composite hoses for application such as tanker trucks and the transport of aviation fuel and aggressive chemicals.
Trelleborg will integrate the Manuli Dynaflex unit with another recent acquisition, Unifluid Technologies S.A., and run them as a single unit within Engineered Systems. Unifluid, also based in Sancheville, makes a range of composite hoses for the petrochemical industry; it was bought last fall to complement Trelleborg's existing specialty hose range.
The acquisition reflects Trelleborg's strategy of expansion within selected industrial-hose segments, which the firm said are characterized by a high level of competitiveness and favorable future profitability. The combination of Unifluid and Dynaflex will result in a business with $20 million in annual sales.
