DETROIT (Feb. 25)—Continental Teves, a unit of Continental A.G., has announced the launch of six new electronic stability control programs in North America, with the technology now available on more than 30 vehicles in model year 2004.
Conti Teves estimates it will supply more than 3.6 million ESP units to auto makers worldwide this year, an increase of 7 percent over model year 2003. The various vehicle models featuring ESP technology include cars from Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mini-Cooper, Nissan, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
ESP technology, according to Conti Teves, uses electrical sensors and data analysis to improve vehicle stability significantly in accelerating, cornering and braking.
