BRECKSVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 6)—Noveon Inc. has sold some solvent-based polyurethane products made at its Leominster, Mass., facility to Soluol Chemical Co. Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The global producer of specialty chemicals elected to divest the materials because it intends to focus on its water-based polyurethane business, according to Kees Verhaar, Noveon's vice president and general manager for performance coatings.
West Warwick, R.I.-headquartered Soluol will integrate the purchased solvent-based polyurethane offerings into its existing product lines, the company said.
Noveon plans to close the Leominster plant by the end of 2004 and move production of its Sancure-brand water-based polyurethane dispersions to its Avon Lake, Ohio, site, which it said is better suited for production of the dispersions than the Leominster site.
