WASHINGTON (Jan. 19)—Rather than issue a nationwide contract for retreading 14- and 15-inch tires, the U.S. Postal Service should consider a few simple guidelines on local and regional contracts to ensure top performance from retreaders, according to the Tire Retread Information Bureau.
Such things as a maximum failure adjustment rate, a maximum price list and a set time frame for delivery of tires would be much simpler, cheaper and more effective than a national contract, TRIB Managing Director Harvey Brodsky said in a letter to Anthony Hufford, USPS purchasing and supply management specialist.
