MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (Jan. 12)—Crompton Corp. has named Robert L. Wood, a 27-year veteran of Dow Chemical Co., president and CEO, replacing Vincent A. Calarco, who continues as chairman until he retires later this year after 25 years with Crompton and Uniroyal Chemical.
Wood, 49, has been business group president of thermosets and Dow automotive—businesses with combined revenues of $5.5 billion—for the past three years. Calarco, the top executive at Crompton (and its predecessor company Crompton & Knowles Corp.) since 1985, called Wood "a creative and strategic thinker with a strong focus on results."
Among Wood's assignments during his time at Dow were vice president and general manager for North American polyolefins and elastomers, and global business vice president for polyurethanes and engineering plastics.
