A-Z Americas L.L.C. has combined its gear-pump-driven Combex extruder with an integrated cutting unit and strainer to offer a system for producing high-precision blanks for compression molding. By utilizing the enhanced extrusion precision offered by the gear pump, said A-Z Americas President Walter M. Seidel, compression molders are able to improve the efficiency of their processing by increasing the accuracy of each molded item and reducing the amount of flash. The key to the system is the gear pump, which allows output accuracy of ± 0.5 percent. Combined with a high-speed accurate cutting system, this yields rubber blanks accurate to 0.02 grams, Seidel said. A-Z´s parent company, A-Z Formen- und Maschinenbau GmbH of Munich, Germany, offers the Combex gear-pump extruder system through a marketing and manufacturing partnership with Crotech A.G. of Basel, Switzerland.
