AKRON (Dec. 16) — Goodyear has signed a three-year contract with the Volvo Group to become the auto maker's tire supplier in Europe and Brazil, the second pact it's reached with the group in two months.
The tire manufacturer was named standard equipment tire supplier for the group's Volvo and Mack truck operations in North America in November. That deal also covers three years.
Volvo selected Goodyear following a year-long review of the company's product range and performance, advanced technology, and its service and delivery capability on the three continents, said Henry Johnson, managing director of Goodyear's truck tire business in Europe.
"In Europe, Goodyear will become a major supplier for Volvo Group vehicles while in North America we will not only continue our long relationship with Mack trucks but we will also become the standard equipment supplier to Volvo," Johnson said. "In Brazil, Goodyear will become the standard tire for the VM range of vehicles."
