MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (Nov. 26)—Robbins L.L.C. has completed the move of its Robbins-Presti envelope operation to its recently expanded Muscle Shoals facility from a leased plant in New Britain, Pa., to centralize its production base. The move has allowed Robbins to upgrade the unit's machinery and systems. The rubber goods manufacturer also has added equipment at the 250,000-sq.-ft. plant, including a fully automated Krupp GK-250 E intermeshing rotor mixer. The unit features a carbon black handling system, which is slated to come online Dec. 15, and downstream equipment. Robbins spent about $8 million to move the business, expand the Muscle Shoal plant, add a 1,800-sq.-ft. testing and quality control laboratory, and purchase the rubber compound mixing line and downstream equipment.
