TORONTO (Nov. 25)—Toronto-based tire remediation firm Unisphere Waste Conversion Ltd. has signed a letter of intent to acquire three interrelated rubber recycling companies—Chatham Rubber Manufacturing Corp., Wellington Polymer Technology Inc. and Entireco. Unisphere hopes to complete its acquisition of Entireco, a fellow tire remediation company, by the end of the year, and recycled rubber product manufacturers Chatham and Wellington early in the first quarter of 2004, according to John Wypich, Unisphere founder, president and CEO. Wypich, who declined to give a dollar amount for the deal, said his company´s plans after the acquisition is to move into manufacturing products from crumb rubber, then eventually move into producing carbon black, oil and gas through pyrolysis. Unisphere has exclusive North American rights to the patented pyrolysis system of Finnish waste recycling firm Metso Corp.
