Teknor Apex Co.´s Thermoplastic Elastomer Division has expanded its Uniprene and Tekbond offerings. Three new grades in the Uniprene 2000 Series have durometers of 15, 25 and 35, offering users the softness of non-crosslinked thermoplastic elastomers with better temperature resistance. Naturally light in color, the thermoplastic vulcanizate can be colored, is resistant to solvents and oils, and has good abrasion resistance and a softer, dryer feel, the firm said. The new Tekbond 6700 Series grades bond well to glass-filled and unfilled nylon 6 and 6/6, allowing makers of handles, grips and other soft touch parts to use insert molding rather than two-shot processes, the Teknor Apex division said. Available in 45, 55 and 65 durometers, the Tekbond grades are based on different polymer technology than that in the 6000 series.
