GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 29)—Because of the continued escalation of raw materials prices, Michelin North America Inc. will increase replacement market prices up to 5 percent, effective Feb. 1, on select Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal and some private and associate brand passenger and light truck tires. Michelin last raised prices on aftermarket passenger and light truck/sport-utility vehicle tires March 1, 2002. At that time, prices went up an average of 6 percent on Michelin, Uniroyal, BFGoodrich, private and associate brands. Michelin also hiked prices on Michelin-brand truck tires an average of 4.5 percent Feb. 1, 2003, and 4 percent on BFG truck tires Nov. 1, 2002.
