AKRON (Oct. 27)—Oon Hock Yeoh, Roderick P. Quirk and Andy H. Tsou have won ACS Rubber Division awards, while no Charles Goodyear Medalist was chosen for 2003, the division announced following its Cleveland conference and exhibition. Yeoh of Lord Corp.'s Mechanical Products Division won the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award; Quirk of the University of Akron the George Stafford Whitby Award for Distinguished Teaching and Research; and Tsou of ExxonMobil Chemical Co. the Sparks-Thomas Award for younger scientists, chemists and engineers. The division added a chairman who will serve for three years to the Science and Technology Awards Committee, which will actively seek award nominations for all categories, said Ed Miller, division executive director. The organization also didn't select winners for two other awards, the Fernley H. Banbury Award and the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award.
