BRECKSVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 6)—Noveon Inc. has acquired some of the assets of Viasys Healthcare Inc.'s Thermedics Polymer business unit, a custom maker of thermoplastic polyurethanes, for an undisclosed amount. The deal will broaden Noveon's TPU product lines used in a variety of extrusion and injection molding applications, Noveon said. Viasys Healthcare is selling the business because it "did not fit into our long-term strategy in respiratory, critical care and neuro-medicine," according to Randy Thurman, CEO of Viasys Healthcare. Thermedics products consist of medical grade urethanes, optical grade Tecoflex and industrial grade aliphatic urethanes.
