TOKYO (Sept. 24)—Bridgestone Corp. has resumed production of tires in undamaged portions of its Tochigi, Japan, plant that was damaged by a fire Sept. 8-9 in the rubber mixing process area. Firefighters extinguished the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the facility, Bridgestone said. The company has verified the soundness of electrical and gas lines and of all equipment and determined that conditions in the factory, except the damaged rubber mixing shop, warrant resuming production.
