ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Sept. 23)—The Wacker Silicones division of Wacker Chemical Corp. will begin supplying liquid injection sealing material for another original equipment automotive application in January. The running change to seal the oil filter assembly of a European-made vehicle is in dynamometer testing now, said Thomas G. Jacobs, Wacker product chemist of transportation and energy elastomers. Wacker also is in development discussions with four other European car companies for the liquid sealing process and in testing with Ford Motor Co. for at least two additional applications there, he said. To date, the LIS seals on the oil pumps used in 75,000 Mustang and Winstar vehicles have had no warranty problems.
