BOULDER, Colo. (Sept. 18)—Cross Link Inc., a wireless data products supplier, has developed a tire pressure monitoring system based on radio-frequency identification for application on commercial truck fleets. The molded-in tire tags, fixed and hand-held readers that make up the TireBoss system will be available early next year for trucks, buses, tankers, trailer and off-road heavy equipment vehicles, according to a report in the online "RFID Journal." A spokeswoman for Bridgestone/Firestone said Denver-based Cross Link has licensed its technology, but the tire maker has no vested interest in the Cross Link product and has not been in development with the company for the past five years, as reported by the online publication.
