GALESBURG, Ill. (Sept. 16)—Gates Corp. said this fall it will follow through with cuts it announced in the spring of 2002 at one of its Illinois plants. The manufacturer plans to transfer the Galesburg facility's hose production to other plants in the U.S. and Mexico to rationalize its capacity. The company did not release projected cost savings from the move. About 100 employees will remain in Galesburg to continue with the factory's mixing operations. Earlier this month Gates announced the closure of a belting facility in Kentucky.
