LOGANSPORT, Ind. (Sept. 9)—Trelleborg YSH Inc. has agreed to listen to any concessions the union at one of its Indiana plants is willing to make to save the facility. United Steelworkers of America Local 798 presented several plans to the company Aug. 26 and will meet again with Trelleborg management Sept. 10 to discuss the matter, said President Dave Tocco. In June, Trelleborg notified employees it would phase out production at the Logansport factory by mid-2004, putting nearly all of the 386 hourly and salaried workers out of a job. The manufacturer had given the union a non-negotiable offer to keep the facility open at that time, but the local voted it down.
