NORRISTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 2)—SKF USA Inc., a sister company of Chicago Rawhide, will close two U.S. plants to improve its long-term competitive position. The moves will affect 300 employees. SKF plans to phase out operations at its Altoona, Pa., and Jamestown, N.Y., factories, transferring bearing production to other facilities in the U.S. and Mexico. SKF said it expects the closures to be complete within a year.
