ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Aug. 27)—Gates Corp. plans to begin closing its Elizabethtown plant, which produces automotive and industrial belts, next month, putting 437 employees out of work. The closure will not affect Gates' Polyflex facility also located in the city. Gates did not release expected annual savings or what the closure would cost it but said it should be complete in six to nine months as it transfers work to one of its five other belt factories in North America.
