TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Aug. 8)—TRW Automotive Inc. said it has won a contract to supply its second-generation tire pressure monitoring system to a Japanese car maker for a 2004 model year vehicle. The supplier made its announcement during the 2003 Management Briefing Seminars, an annual automotive conference held in Northern Michigan. TRW developed both its first and second generations of the direct tire pressure monitoring system, dubbed the EnTire Solution, with Groupe Michelin. TRW would not release the value of the contract but said an earlier agreement to supply the first generation of the device to a major European car maker was delayed. The European car company will use the second generation monitor in a future model year application instead, a TRW spokesman said.
