SYCAMORE, Ohio (July 22)—The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has renewed August Mack Environmental Inc.'s environmental remediation contract at the Kirby scrap tire site near Sycamore for another two years. August Mack will continue to help with groundwater treatment and soil remediation at the Kirby site under the terms of the $837,000 contract, according to Scott Mounts, manager of Mack's Ohio office. The Kirby site—scene of a massive, 18-acre tire fire that began Aug. 21,1999—had 30 million to 50 million tires at its peak.
