WEINHEIM, Germany (July 21)—Freudenberg Group is investing invest about $17 million to build and equip a new technical development center for seal and vibration-control technology at its Weinheim headquarters. All research and development activities for the Freudenberg Dichtung- und Schwingungstechnik unit will be brought together at this center, which also will house the group's automotive sales team and the Simrit Academy, Freudenberg said. The company expects "a major boost" to innovation and development with this center, located close to the existing development unit's measurement and testing facilities. The new building will comprise a 26,900-sq.-ft. technical hall—directly connected to the Technical Development Center's testing building—along with a four-story administrative building.
