TEMPE, Ariz. (July 14)—The Rubber Pavements Association has established the Recycled Tire Engineering and Research Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to exploring the benefits of using crumb rubber in paving materials and other transportation and construction applications. Some of the foundation's priorities will be development of new tests and construction procedures for asphalt rubber and of pavement designs to reduce noise caused by the interaction of road and tire, the RPA said in a release. Also, the new organization will establish technical education programs for civil and chemical engineering colleges.
