MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (July 14)—The planned sale of Crompton Corp.'s OSI Specialties organosilicones business to General Electric Co. has gained all the necessary competition authority clearances, Crompton said. GE is buying OSi Specialties for $645 million in cash plus the transfer of GE's Specialty Chemicals business to Crompton. The deal is scheduled to close in the third quarter of 2003.
