SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 11)—GenCorp Inc. reported earnings of $10 million for the second quarter, an increase of 67 percent over the same period of 2002. Sales rose 4 percent during the three-month-period to $315 million. For the six-month period, GenCorp reported a 44-percent hike to $13 million in earnings and a 6-percent increase in sales to $586 million. GDX Automotive posted a 2-percent boost in sales for both the quarter and six-month periods, reporting $214 million and $405 million, respectively. Operating profit for the vehicle sealing unit improved 14 percent to $16 million during the quarter and less than a percent during the first half to $21 million.
