NOVI, Mich. (June 12)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has increased its stake in Jin Young Standard Inc. from 49 percent to 90 percent and renamed it Cooper-Standard Automotive Korea Inc. President Dug Soo Kim will continue to lead the company. Jin Young Chemical Co. and the former Standard Products Inc. established ties in the early 1980s and the joint venture in 1988. Cooper said the increased ownership will give it a significant presence in South Korea through a well-established company and allow it to expand its automotive sealing operations in the growing Asian automotive market. The joint venture produces automotive sealing and plastic components for the Asian automotive market.
