BROWNSVILLE, Texas (June 3)—Titan International Inc. will curtail tire production at its Brownsville facility for three to four months, choosing to reduce its large inventories and wait for better economic conditions. The shutdown will affect about 130 employees at the plant. The decision is an extension of a month-long wave of layoffs that reduced the work force in Brownsville from about 300 earlier in the spring. Workers will be placed on a recall list and brought back as needed by seniority, said Operations Manager David Fines. The site's warehouse will continue to operate with a team of about 12 workers. The curtailment will take place within the next few weeks, Fines said.
