RADNOR, Pa. (May 29)—Applied Tech Products Inc. has restructured its operation and moved A.K. Rubber Products Co., a specialist in precision rubber-molded products used in the medical device industry and a producer of goods for the automotive market, to its ATP Engineered Rubber & Plastics Group to make it one of a few firms offering rubber, silicone and plastics component expertise globally, according to group President Carlton Harris. A.K. Rubber, which had been a stand-alone company in ATP's network since it was purchased in May 1999, joins three plastics products businesses—located in Monticello, Iowa; West Berlin, N.J.; and Tempe, Ariz.—in the group, which also has plants in Mexico and China. The group principally services the medical device and pharmaceutical packaging markets, along with the electronics, consumer and industrial products industries. With A.K. Rubber in the fold, the group boasts 325,000 square feet of combined manufacturing space, a spokesman said. Its equipment includes more than 130 rubber and plastic molding presses, from 28- to 1,000-ton capacity.
