AUSTIN, Texas (May 21)—The American Tort Reform Association, the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Legislative Exchange Council have filed an amicus brief before the Supreme Court of Texas, supporting Bridgestone/Firestone's move to have 31 product liability suits from Mexican and Venezuelan tire owners dismissed in Texas state district court. "The lower courts' approach is wholly inconsistent with the decision made by the Texas legislature to place foreign residents last in line at the courthouse door," the associations wrote. The first of the cases from the Mexican-Venezuelan block is scheduled to go to trial July 28.
