AHRENSBURG, Germany (May 20)—Visual inspection firm Basler A.G. has cited business with rubber seal manufacturers as a major factor behind an 82-percent surge in its first-quarter sales to $7.3 million. The German firm supplies automatic quality control equipment to the sector via its Sealing Inspection Business Unit. The seals testing systems unit is part of a Vision Systems division which more than doubled sales to $4.4 million from a year ago. The division benefited from an upswing in demand for testing systems for sealing rings, helped by a new contract with an undisclosed customer that doubled order numbers, Basler said. Sealing inspection systems for rubber/elastomer product customers accounted for 18 percent of fiscal 2002 sales of $25.2 million.
