LOS ANGELES (May 14)—The families of three married couples killed in a May 18, 2002 rollover accident have filed suit against Continental Tire North American Inc. and Ford Motor Co. in Los Angeles Superior Court. Ismael and Yolanda Flores, Jose and Eva Rodriguez, and Antonio and Maria Lucero were riding in the Flores' Ford Expedition on Interstate 15 in San Bernardino County, Calif. when a General Grabber tire on the vehicle allegedly blew out, causing the rollover. The families accuse Ford and Conti of failing to recall the "defective and dangerous tires," according to the "Los Angeles Times." Ford and Conti both said they knew of the lawsuit, but hadn't seen a copy of the complaint and thus couldn't comment.
