PARIS (May 13)—Groupe Michelin expects to add 1,100 employees to its 32,000-strong work force in France this year as part of an initiative started in 2001 to increase employment by 3,100 by year-end 2003. Of the new jobs, 600 will be for professional staff, including engineers and technicians. The 500 remaining posts are for workers required by Michelin's 18 factories in France, the company said. The recruits will in part replace employees leaving Michelin through the firm's early or scheduled retirement plans.
