AKRON (May 9)—The Competitiveness Initiative of Sri Lanka (TCI), a project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, is introducing a line of premium-quality, technically specified natural rubbers in North America. The ultra-light-colored latex crepe rubbers will be designed in cooperation with individual customers, resulting in customized polymers rather than a standard commodity, according to TCI. William "Kip" Tobin, former president of the Rubber Trade Association of North America, is North American coordinator of the project, and will be in charge of developing joint venture programs with rubber manufacturers.
