ROANOKE, Va. (May 7)—RBX Industries Inc. is transferring the color mixing business at its Hoover Hanes plant in Tallapoosa, Ga., to its Conover, N.C., facility and will expand annual black rubber mixing capacity at Tallapoosa by 25 million pounds once the transfer is complete. Moving color mixing frees up additional black mixing capacity and reduces the opportunity for black contamination of non-black compounds, said Doug Parnell, vice president of sales. RBX also will add a Shaw K-7A Intermesh mixer at Tallapoosa to generate additional manufacturing efficiencies and increase throughput, especially for specialized compounds that lend themselves to intermesh mixing technology, the company said. The projects, for which no costs were disclosed, are scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
