AKRON (May 7)—James C. Boland, Steven A. Minter and James M. Zimmerman were elected to three-year terms on the board of directors by shareholders at the firm's annual shareholders meeting, held May 7 in Akron. They also picked Agnar Pytte, the retired president and CEO of Case Western Reserve University, to fill the remaining year of a three-year term on the board. Boland is former vice chairman of Ernst & Young and vice chairman of Cavs/Gund Arena Co., Zimmerman is chairman of Federated Department Stores and Minter is president and executive director of the Cleveland Foundation. Zimmerman also was named to the newly created post of presiding director of the board. His prime duty will be to preside over executive sessions of outside directors. Zimmerman has served as a Goodyear director since 2001. In addition, shareholders also approved a company proposal to cut the number of board members to between at least nine but no more than 15 from a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 19.
