AKRON (May 7)—Samir G. Gibara will resign as chairman of Goodyear's board of directors effective June 30 and be replaced by President and CEO Robert J. Keegan. The move marks the completion of "the transition plan that we laid out when Bob Keegan joined Goodyear in October 2000," Gibara said at the company's annual shareholders meeting, held May 7 in Akron. Keegan, 55, initially served as president, chief operating officer and a director of the firm before replacing Gibara as CEO in January. The 64-year-old Gibara, who began working for Goodyear in 1964, has been chairman since 1996. He also served as CEO from mid-1996 through 2002. He has served on the board since 1995.
