AKRON (May 1)—Web-based tire registration would decrease, not increase, tire registration levels and "would add significant confusion to how dealers should register tires," according to a letter from CIMS Inc., the Akron-based private tire registration firm, to the Tire Industry Association. TIA supports the Rubber Manufacturers Association's call for Web-based registration, but CIMS said current registration rates are much higher than the 10 percent the RMA postulates, thanks largely to CIMS' All-Brand Tire Registration Form and Tire Registration Clearinghouse.
