HOUSTON (April 15)—Dow Chemical Co.'s Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group has developed a new family of functionalized polyolefin products designed to broaden the company's reach beyond the traditional coatings and adhesives sectors and offer compounders a cost-effective complementary grafting material. The new product line, called Amplify functional polymers, comprises three grades, based respectively on ethylene ethyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers and maleic anhydride-grafted polymers. Dow said development of the Amplify line was aided by its 2001 merger with Union Carbide, combining Dow's material science expertise with technologies and production capabilities from Union Carbide.
