HONG KONG (April 10)—Dow Chemical Co. will sell its Intacta Performance Polymers polyurethane glove business to Malaysia-based YTY Industry Sdn. Bhd. to allow Dow to focus on its core strengths and serve as a supplier of polyurethane polymers and technology to YTY. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Malaysian company, a maker and exporter of a wide range of disposable examination gloves, has contract manufactured the gloves since October 2000 and will continue to make them at its factories in Kuala Langat and Sitiawan, Malaysia. Since commercial production of the polyurethane gloves began in January 2001, exports to North America, Europe and Japan have grown steadily and continue to expand to new markets, according to Dow.
