HOUSTON (April 10)—The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers has postponed its May 19-22 annual meeting in Beijing, China, until September because of the SARS virus. "Recent relevant information about the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome in China led us to take this extraordinary move to postpone the meeting," said James L. McGraw, managing director and CEO of the global organization. This is the first time in the IISRP's 44-year history it has postponed an annual meeting. McGraw—who said a week ago the group still planned on holding the meeting in May—said the Sept. 15-18 conference should be very similar to the original program.
