BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (April 9)—Bridgestone/Firestone's Bloomington, Ill., large equipment tire plant is one of 60 U.S. industrial facilities accepted today into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Environmental Performance Track program. NEPT is a voluntary EPA program that honors industrial facilities which show sustained commitment toward improving their environmental performance. NEPT members must devise strategic plans for reducing emissions and show consistent compliance with environmental directives. The EPA has now named 304 facilities across the U.S. into the program; the BFS plants in Des Moines, Iowa; Warren County, Tenn.; Aiken County, S.C.; and Oklahoma City all previously were tapped for the honor.
