THE HAGUE, Netherlands (April 1)—Crompton Corp.'s OSi Specialties business plans to build a polyurethane foam surfactants plant in China, according to Tony Lanchak, global business director, urethanes additives. Construction of the silicone polymers facility in Nanjing, China, is slated to begin later this year, he said. The facility will employ about 15, supported by another 15-20 technical staff at OSi's office in Shanghai, Lanchak said at UTECH Europe, held March 25-27 in the Hague. OSi also has agreed to a partnership deal with a local manufacturer to supply polyether feedstock to its Nanjing facility. "That's part of the investment in that part of the world. We are not only putting hard assets in the ground, we will also develop supply relationships with the people in China," Lanchak said.
