LONDON (March 20)—The UTECH Europe 2003 conference and exhibition will continue as planned March 25-27, the organizers have announced in the face of the hostilities in Iraq. More than 450 delegates are registered for the technical conference and more than 2,500 polyurethane specialists are expected to sign in for the parallel exhibition where more than 100 companies will present their latest developments. The two events run simultaneously in the Congress Centre in The Hague, Netherlands. "Iraq is more than 1,800 miles away, and security on flights and other transportation systems will be tighter than usual," said Paul Mitchell, managing director of Crain Communications Ltd., co-organizer of the international polyurethane industry event. "We do not anticipate any significant problems. Extra security is planned for people entering the UTECH event but, as this is only open to staff working for legitimate businesses operating in the polyurethanes sector, this is purely a precaution."
