PAWLING, N.Y (March 12)—Pawling Corp. has spent nearly $1 million to purchase and set up a single-screw line primarily to extrude plastic wall covering panels and custom sheet. The acquisition of the Davis-Standard sheet system should shorten lead times to two or three weeks from as much as six weeks, according to Robin Ringler, Pawling business unit manager. The addition of the ninth line at the company—which also is a rubber product maker—will give Pawling better control of color matching for its wall coverings. The system is designed to process 400-450 pounds of PVC each hour, but consistently has doubled that amount, the firm said.
