DETROIT (March 7)—The DSG-Canusa division of ShawCor Ltd. has landed its first original equipment contract for its DeRay Coldmelt II. The butyl adhesive-based, longitudinal water sealing product that stops water from running down a wire harness and shorting out the vehicle's electrical distribution systems made its debut on the 2003 BMW 5 Series. DSG-Canusa spent the past three years working directly with BMW A.G. to develop the new system, which replaces the heat shrink tubing and overmolded grommet in its Coldmelt I and other competing systems with a premolded, two-piece grommet on top of the adhesive.
