AKRON (March 6)—Goodyear and TRW Automotive have agreed to jointly study tires, braking, suspension and steering systems to speed up product development for vehicle makers. The five-year pact calls for the companies to enhance vehicle ride, handling and other safety, performance and comfort characteristics, according to Steve Roth, Goodyear director of vehicle systems. Goodyear will share its design integration and manufacturing experience in tires, airsprings, bushing, mountings and knowledge of functional areas related to ride, handling, traction, wear, noise and vibration. Livonia, Mich.-based TRW Automotive will provide its design and engineering know-how on advanced braking, steering and suspension systems and components, and how it uses such technology for improved braking and handling performance.
